Letter from Pastor Tyler

Dear Church at Oakdale,

First, I want to say thank you for your support and prayer for me and my family. I am again completely amazed by your generosity and selflessness. Though the timing for these kinds of activations is never good, I am glad to be serving with you all for this one.

I thought you might appreciate a note on the type of things I am doing. I am currently serving as the Task Force Central Chaplain, meaning that I am the chaplain for all of the Soldiers who are currently serving in the middle of the state as well as all of the Soldiers doing deliveries for PPE and food throughout the state. It has been an amazing opportunity to serve God in the military.

Every morning I meet with Soldiers before they go on a mission and talk and pray with them. I meet with commanders and other leaders to talk about issues Soldiers are having; I am leading a Bible study on the Gospel of John on Wednesdays; I am leading virtual chapel on Sundays, and I am doing a lot of counseling.

It has been an amazing opportunity for witness and has served as a reminder for me of the eternal impact of the actions we take. The world is full of people who need to know God, and as I have counseled people who are experiencing the effects of sin all around them, I am constantly reminded that the only long-term solution to brokenness is the grace of God that leads to salvation and that you and I have experienced and know about that grace first-hand. We are eyewitnesses to God’s grace applied to us and the hope, joy, peace and contentment that salvation brings. Praise God for bringing us salvation and hope!

God has given me a great opportunity to be a witness to the great grace and hope we have in Christ, and I am glad to continue to be used by Him in that way through June 24. Yes, I have been extended through June 24, but I will be back to preach on May 31 and June 7. I am looking forward to being back home to stay, but I am glad to be used by God during a time when His presence is greatly needed.

Please continue to pray for wisdom, health and faithfulness for me. Please pray for the Soldiers I serve for safety, health and most importantly, that they will know God.

I pray for you the same as Paul prayed for the Philippians: “ . . . that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, 10 so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, 11 filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.” ~ Phil. 1:8-11

In Christ,
