MINISTRY OPPORTUNITIES:

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD--Save your shoeboxes.  Also remember school supplies are on sale now.

LIBRARY UPDATE: The Children’s Reading Contest is done for the summer.  The contest was between the boys vs. girls on who would collect the most armor for “Warriors For God”  The girls won by collecting 58 points vs. the boys with 22 points.  Congratulations to the girls!  We also have some new books for adults  A must read is “Quiet Strength” by Tony Dungy, the Super Bowl coach.

Special Concert Announcement: This fall, two special "Grand Opening" events are being planned at our new building. The Cherokee Symphony will be in concert with Oakdale's Choir on Sunday, September 30th at 7:00pm at Oakdale. Christian singers / songwriters/ worship leaders Greg & Rebecca Sparks will be in concert at Oakdale on Saturday, October 27th at 7:00pm. Please mark your calendars for these very special events.

SEPTEMBER 22^ND is moving day for Al and Elaine Visscher.  Meet in Sheldon between 8:00 and 8:30 am at the Christian Retirement Home.  Food is needed for noon in Paullina.  There is a sign up sheet for those who can help and those who can furnish food.

CONGRATULATIONS TO Ed Florine in the birth of a new granddaughter Lana Lou born to Chad and Nicole Florine on August 21^st.  Also congrats to great grandpa and grandma Paul and Marj Rabe.

 ATTENTION ALL JR. HIGH & HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS!!!

It's time for you to get excited about Youth Group! Our first Youth Group meeting of the new school year will be Wednesday, September 5th at 7:00pm. We've got a lot of awesome stuff planned for this year and we hope to see a lot of new faces! The beginning of the school year is a great time to invite your friends to come out to Youth Group, so start inviting! Make sure you're here Sept. 5th. There will be games, prizes, food, friends, and an introduction to our fall series entitled 20 Basics. Don't miss it.

High School Sunday School starts up again on Sunday, September 9th. Pastor Clint will be teaching a new Bible study of the book of James that's really cool. And to make things even more exciting breakfast will be served that morning. Yum! You'll definitely learn something from this study, so make a commitment to get up and make it to Sunday School (on time) every Sunday.

ELEVATE (formerly MTV) is a ministry training retreat for high school students that happens at Hidden Acres September 15 & 16. The focus of this retreat is to train students to be leaders in their youth groups by encouraging them to be more committed followers of Christ. If you're interested in going to ELEVATE talk to Mark Anderson as soon as possible. Funds are available to help students with the cost of this retreat so don't make money an issue when making your decision.
