This will be the final meeting for us in the book Knowing God. Please read chapter 22 of Knowing God in preparation for the discussion. All Young Adults, join us for our small group meeting today in the Parsonage at 4:00 PM. If you have any questions you may talk with Pastor Clint or Greta. Needed: National Conference delegates! We are in need of members of Oakdale who would be interested in attending this year’s Free Church National Conference as delegates. The conference dates are June 27-29 and it will be held in Minneapolis. If you are interested or would like more information please talk with Pastor Clint or Gene Petersen. ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS: Reflecting on the Cross. Come and experience Peter Jensen’s observation: “We never move on from the cross, only into a more profound understanding of it.” The class will explore such topics as the centrality of the cross in the NT, the meaning of the cross as the symbol of Christianity, the theology of the cross, the offense of the cross, the power of the cross, and cross-centered living. Join us in reflecting, in the words of John Stott, on “that great and most glorious of all subjects—the cross of Christ.” MARK YOUR CALENDARS!!!! The dedication of our new building is planned for the weekend of June 9-10th. Please be thinking of relatives or past members/friends of Oakdale who may like to know about this weekend of celebration and let them know these dates. IF YOU DESIRE to profess Faith in Christ in Christian Baptism, please talk with Pastor Clint. Oakdale will offer a class on Baptism in June, leading to a baptismal service on July 8th. IF YOU DESIRE prayer or spiritual counsel, following the service there will be a couple available to meet with you on the right hand side of the platform. Dear Oakdale, Thanks so much for giving and praying for my China trip this summer! I greatly appreciate your generosity! I am fully supported now and was even able to use some of your gift to help another teammate who didn't have all of her support in yet. We leave in less than a month (May 14th)! 3 of our team members still do not have their passports back so please pray that those will come in soon. BUILDING BOX Finances Total cash received to date: $1,606,087.13 Total cash & pledged to date: $1,734,494.41 Funds borrowed to date: $ 196,900.00 NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER – The community National Day of Prayer program will be held in the Laue Room at the Community Building at 7:30 am on Thursday, May 3rd. The program will last approximately 15 minutes. The speaker this year will be Marty Weber and the music will be provided by Verla Hibbing. There will be rolls, juice and coffee served. Attention all Jr. & Sr. High Students! No Sr. High Small Group tonight. Youth Group- All Jr. and Sr. High students (and their friends) are invited to join us Wednesday night for youth group. We had 40 students here last Wednesday and we had a great time! Join us at 7:00pm for worship, food, games, Bible study, and prayer. New Orleans Team will meet at 8:30pm Wednesday night right after youth group. We'll meet in the Jr. High Sunday School room (#112.) New Orleans Team- make sure to be at the church Saturday morning at 10:00am to help with set-up and food prep for Sunday's fundraiser meal. we'll need your help. |
